On behalf of our whole school community may I offer you a very warm welcome to our school website.  My name is Mrs. Dominique Hayes and I am proud to have the privilege of being Headteacher of St. Mary’s RC Primary School. St. Mary’s is a special place to learn and work because it always puts the children first. We are lucky enough to have wonderful children who want to learn and dedicated, caring adults who help them to do so.

As a Catholic school we place our faith at the centre of all that we do and with this in mind we aspire to provide the very best education that we can for the children.  Our mission statement embodies this purpose

Every child matters at St. Mary’s and the children are at the heart of all we do in our school. We invest heavily in human resources, which we believe is the best way to raise achievement and meet the needs of our children. All our members of staff are fully committed to the school and dedicated to their task of promoting high quality teaching and learning as well as caring for the spiritual development of the children. Our teaching staff have a breadth of knowledge and wealth of experience, along with new ideas to offer our children and to inspire them with well-planned and exciting learning opportunities.   We have carefully designed our curriculum to develop skills, creativity and spirituality, encouraging confidence and opportunities for children to be excited about learning and challenged to achieve their very best.

 

St Mary’s RC School community aims to follow the example of Christ, in welcoming, recognising, fostering and developing each individual, as a unique and special gift from God with value and dignity. We believe that good behaviour is crucial to maintain the positive and caring ethos of the school, and our priority is to engage children in their learning, whilst helping them develop a positive and responsible attitude towards one another, the school and the school community.

Our Governing body is very supportive and pro-active. The school also enjoys a close partnership with Father Richard Howard and St Mary’s Parish in Horwich. We feel confident that parents, staff, governors and our parish community will be able to work together for the benefit of your child/children in a spirit of mutual trust, support and understanding.

Although our school is well established, we are constantly seeking to improve the provision. In education, as with all life, things change, and we constantly face new challenges, both in terms of developments in education and expectations of the children and parents. We aim to be a vibrant core in the community, as well as forward looking in our attitude to education.
