PSHE
PSHE stands for Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education. At St Mary’s we teach PSHE every week. It also permeates through the rest of our curriculum and in particular our Catholic Social Teachings.
We follow the Ten Ten scheme of work, Life to the Full. Please see the attached documents which include the parental consultation letter on Relationship and Sex Education which we undertake each May and a parental consultation survey form.

PSHE Long Term Plan
At St Mary’s we follow the Ten Ten Life to the Full Plus scheme of work for our Long Term Plan. The plan is split into modules and each module takes place over a term.
We deliver the modules as follows:
- Autumn Term: Module 2: Created to love others
- Spring Term: Module 3: Created to live in community
- Summer Term: Module 1: Created and loved by God
This ensures that RSE is delivered in the summer term when pupils have become familiar with staff in their year groups and would feel more comfortable when learning about and discussing some of the more sensitive content of this module.

Calm Corners
Each class has a calming corner in their classrooms for children to use if they feel they need time out to regulate their emotions. These are quiet havens and are spoken of positively by the children.
Growth Mindset
Growth mindset describes a way of viewing challenges and setbacks. People who have a growth mindset believe that even if they struggle with certain skills, their abilities can improve. They think that with work, their skills can get better over time.
At St Mary’s our six Growth Mindset values are:

In our Friday Celebration Assemblies we acknowledge a child in each class who have shown growth mindset throughout the week with our reward certificate.
